Lisa MacIsaac Immigration Consulting ("I", "me", "my") is the immigration consulting practice of Lisa MacIsaac, a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (CICC licence R731621) based in Calgary, Alberta. This policy explains how I collect, use, share, store and protect your personal information when you visit this website, contact me, book a call, or become a client.
I follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). As a licensee of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC), I am also bound by the Code of Professional Conduct, which requires me to keep information about clients and former clients confidential indefinitely.
1. Who is responsible for your information
I am responsible for the personal information my practice holds, and I am the person to contact with any privacy question or request:

2. What information I collect
When you send the inquiry form: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, preferred language, the type of help you need, whether you are in Canada, and your message.
When you book a call: your name, email address and anything you choose to enter on the booking page.
When you become a client: the information needed to advise you and prepare your application. Depending on the application, this can include identity and travel documents, immigration history, family and relationship information, education and work history, and financial information. Some files require sensitive information, such as medical, police or court records. For employers, it can include business, payroll and recruitment records and job offer details.
When you visit this website: the website host automatically records basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) to operate and secure the site. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Please do not send identity documents or detailed personal history through the inquiry form. A short description of your situation is all I need to get started.
3. How I use your information
- To reply to your inquiry and schedule consultations.
- To assess your options and eligibility and give you professional advice.
- To prepare and submit your applications and represent you before government authorities.
- To communicate with you about your file.
- To invoice, keep accounts and meet tax and record-keeping obligations.
- To meet my professional and regulatory obligations as an RCIC.
I do not sell your personal information, and I do not use it for marketing without your consent.
4. Consent
By sending the inquiry form or booking a call, you consent to my collecting and using the information you provide for the purposes above. Clients give written consent through a service agreement and the representation forms required by the government. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you do, I may not be able to continue helping you.
5. When I share your information
I share personal information only as needed for the purposes above, or as the law requires or permits:
- With the government bodies your application goes to, such as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) for LMIAs, the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), or a provincial nominee program.
- With service providers that help me run my practice (see section 6).
- With translators, couriers or other professionals, with your consent.
- With the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants when required by its regulatory processes, such as practice reviews or complaint investigations.
- When otherwise required or permitted by law.
6. Service providers, including outside Canada
I use the following service providers. Some store or process personal information outside Canada:

Service providers may use the information only to provide their services to me. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement or national security authorities. You can ask me for written information about how I use service providers outside Canada, and I will answer your questions about it.
7. How I protect your information
I use reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These include limiting access to people who need it and who are bound by confidentiality obligations, protecting accounts with strong passwords [and two-factor authentication], using encrypted (HTTPS) connections on this website, and keeping paper records secure.
8. How long I keep your information
If an inquiry does not lead to an engagement, I delete the inquiry within [12 MONTHS]. Client files are kept for at least the period required by the College's client file management rules and by tax law [CONFIRM PERIOD], and then securely destroyed.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you and ask me to correct it. Send your request in writing to the privacy contact in section 1. I will respond within the time limits set by applicable privacy law. In some cases the law allows or requires me to refuse access, and if so I will explain why.
10. Privacy breaches
If a breach involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, I will notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and affected individuals as the law requires, and take steps to reduce the harm.
11. Questions and complaints
Please contact me first with any question or concern, and I will do my best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca) or, for matters under federal law, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
12. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted on this website with the date it was last updated.
